My name is Mikael Franzén, and my journey with handpans began back in 2008, when I saw the instrument for the very first time. Ever since that moment, it never left me. The unique sound and expression of the handpan captured both my heart and my mind.

In 2011, I took the plunge and started playing handpan myself. For many years, I lived as a street musician and artist, immersing myself in the magical world of the handpan. During these years, my interest in the instrument itself grew. I wanted not only to play, but also to understand how these unique sounds were created.

The dream of being able to tune and make handpans myself grew stronger and stronger. In 2017, I finally got the chance to build my own workshop and learn the craft from the ground up. Since then, I have devoted myself wholeheartedly to creating handpans with passion, precision, and respect for the origins of the instrument.

Throughout my journey as a maker, I have had the privilege of meeting amazing people and creating instruments for some of the most inspiring musicians I know. My handpans have found their way into orchestras and large bands, to yoga teachers, religious communities, and many street musicians, both in Sweden and abroad. Every encounter and every order has given me new perspectives and an even greater love for the craft.

My goal is for others to have the same opportunity I did, to play fantastic instruments and grow through music. That’s why it’s important to me to offer high-quality handpans at a better price than what was available when I started. I want to lower the threshold and make it possible for more people to discover and develop with this unique instrument.

Every instrument I build is the result of many years of experience, curiosity, and a deep love of music. My ambition is to create handpans that inspire creativity and joy—whether you are a beginner or an experienced musician.
